Mauritius, Rodrigues and Beach Parties

August is a time filled with birthdays in our family, and one of the reasons that we housesit, is that we get to catch up with family who live interstate.

Thanks to the housesit we are on, we have been able to attend two family parties this month.

No we aren't in Mauritius, but the next best thing, a birthday party on the beach with our daughter-in-law who hails from Rodrigues. Rodrigues is an island just off Mauritius and from the pictures I've seen - looks so gorgeous.

Paella for the birthday girl made by her employer. Funnily enough we watched Jamie Oliver make one of these the previous night on tv - you can get his recipe here

Don't know if this is the same recipe, but I loved watching Jamie make Paella for hundreds in this.

A quick trip to Rodrigues - hopefully one day a future post from here.

Ipanema thongs - Broadwater - Rainbows

Windswept Candy at the Broadwater

Candy is our new little doggie, we've had her two months now, she actually has two teeth we learned at her Vet visit with Dr Gary. We discovered that she loves to chew a dentabone... only thing was she ended up with bits of it stuck in her paw fur. So we had an impromptu hairdo... hmmmm not so sure about the result.

My new little pink Ipanema flip flops at the Broadwater Gold Coast. Chrissie presie to myself. We've had a lovely week or so in Queensland catching up with family, watching movies, dancing Argentine Tango, visiting a certain yacht club that I refuse to mention as I want it to remain our secret (email me for details) and going for long walkies with the puppies along the Paradise Point walkway.

I love this place, sunset, the boats returning home, watching kids learning to sail... It's a real old fashioned wonderful yacht club and I'm in heaven sitting here. The staff is so lovely, so accommodating, helpful, friendly, the chef on race day made the yummiest prawn skewer/chicken yumminess/salad delicioso.
End sigh.

Noticed this under the Ephraim Island Bridge as we wandered past

Fuzzy at the broadwater

Rainbow over the broadwater

Love our doggie walks at Paradise Point... all sorts of fun things to snap pics of.

My Rodrigan daughter-in-law delighted us with a magic bowl

Magic Bowl also known as Bowl Reverse - oh goodness may have to try this recipe myself - I'm having a bit of a drool thinking about it - don't tell anyone though - and it's past dinner time and I'm hungry.

Aren't we lucky having all the wonderful cuisine's from around the world that we are able to try out?

Patchwork Chair we loved at my son's home

Lovely catch up with my family over Christmas, talks and walks on the beach, now on the photo wall it's official - I've been framed.

Dog sitting - Fuzzy the poodle

This is Fuzzy we minded him for over a month while his dad and mum went overseas to Rodrigues. We had a great time all together, and were very sad to see him go back.

Message from Fuzzy...

Here I am snoozing again just before I had a nightmare! It was scary and Kaz said she had to wake me up and say, 'don't worry little fuzz'.

Hi mum and dad, kaz said I missed your phone call yesterday, sorry about that. Kaz says that you're having a good time. Gee wizz though, I have been so busy, there are all these new chewy things I have are just delicious.

Kaz said though, that chewing screen doors, and mosquito coils, is a bad idea. Why's that dad? Also she said that the pot plants aren't a good idea either.

Ah well, I have got my chicken basty strips so that's OK and Kaz goes and finds me a new one really quickly, in fact, as soon as I start chewing other things. I don't mind the mosquito coils tho, and they crunkle nicely in your mouth.

Ah I'm a funster dad...

Kaz says I have grown up heaps since you've been away too.

Love you and kiss mum for me. from fuzz

Rodrigues certainly looks beautiful, it is going on the 'to visit' list. Photo from Wikipedia
