Hi welcome to our blog - our names are Kareen & Kevin Fellows, and our home is in Helensvale on Lake Serenity in Queensland, Australia. Kareen originally created this blog so that pet owners could see their pet's adventures with us, while they were away. Over the years it has become a lovely way to connect with people wanting a reliable couple to care for their home while they travel.
We are a married couple - 30+ years now and we are both in our 60's. Prior to retiring Kevin was the sales and village manager for a retirement resort in Ballina, and for many years worked with a major bank as Finance Manager.
Kareen owned and managed hair salons in Sydney, and later studied for a degree in counselling, which she still practices part time mostly online with her own practice.
We both have extensive management skills and have trained and managed staff. We are available for house sitting in Australia as well as worldwide.
This a picture of us a few years ago now with our dear little yorkie called Rusty. He was a rescue dog from the RSPCA and we had him till he was 17.
Since then we've cared for a few rescue dogs and they've been such a central and rewarding part of our lives.
So we're really used to old dogs, simply adore them and are used to the extra care involved.
Our Interests
We both love travelling to wonderful locations, visiting art galleries, dancing and sailing when we get the opportunity.
Kevin's hobbies are golf and rugby, when we travel he enjoys visiting the local golf courses and can sometimes be heard instructing the rugby players on the TV.
Kevin grew up on Sydney's Middle Harbour and learned to sail there. His grandfather's boat hangs in the Maritime Musuem, and his great grandfather ran the punt at The Spit before the bridge was put in.
Kareen's interests are walking, yoga, art, blogging and photography. She can sometimes be seen blankly nodding as Kevin explains the latest problem with the Wallabies, or his golf swing.
On this blog we've added some images of our own home, as well as including stories and photos to show the beautiful places where we have travelled and taken pets for their adventures.
We've been asked why we house sit...
We prefer the day to day life of living in a home while we are away, and we adore animals, so the house sitting is a perfect fit for us. We also like to catch up with family house sitting is a great way to spend time close by.
